
Dandelion Africa NGO has been lauded for contribution towards advancing Nakuru County Health Agenda.
This was noted when a team from Dandelion Africa NGO led by Executive Director Wendo Aszed paid a courtesy call to Nakuru County Executive Committee Member for Health Roslyn Mungai and her health leadership team.
The CECM commended the Mogotio based NGO that also runs a Medical Centre at Sarambei village in Rongai Sub-county of Nakuru County.
According to CECM Mungai, the county will continue to partner with like minded organizations towards driving the health agenda as per Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto on the same.
Dandelion Africa NGO Executive Director Wendo Aszed on her part stated that she is proud that the county government of Nakuru Health Department has a lot to borrow from Dandelion Africa when it comes to grassroot and access to healthcare services.
Already the Nakuru County Health Department has shown interest in buying the idea of Green Facility Model.
“We’re also happy they were impressed by our Green Facility model and are exploring how to implement it in their health facilities!,” stated Wendo.
Dandelion Medical Centre established in Sarambei village is a registered 24/7 operational clinic under the ministry of health, which since its opening it has brought a tremendous changes in the health outcomes of the community since it brings closer medical services to them.
The Centre has community health volunteers unit (SAKKODA) who are trained by Dandelion Africa in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
Since it was opened in June 2019, a purpose-built maternity units offers labour and delivery private rooms equipped with flexible delivery beds and facilitates easy monitoring of the condition of mother and baby.
The unit also has monitoring equipment for mothers with medical complications such as pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure).
A team of maternity care is committed to offering comprehensive medical support from conception through to delivery and it is 24/7 operational.
Since it was established the facility has continued to ensure women at grassroot deliver successfully.
Besides, it also offers mobile clinics as well as a laboratory for tests.
