Nakuru Town West NG-CDF office on Monday June 9, 2025 issued bursary cheques for boarding schools learners to a tube of Ksh 15 million.
All learners benefited from the tranche with each learner getting a total of Ksh 8,000.
Another Ksh 21,000,000 will be disbursed later once the government releases the fund.
Speaking at New NG-CDF Building at Githima during the event, Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama who is also the patron said there has been partial release of funds from National Government, hence teachers should be understanding.
“We appeal to teachers to be lenient and allow children to be in schools as we await the additional funds,” he said.
He urged parents to ensure that they provide proper documents as per requirements to avert rejection of the forms.
Moving forward, the MP said there shall be no applications but parents are only required to provide the required documents inorder to benefit through a scholarship.
The MP also used the moment to sound stern warning on individuals and opponents who have tendency of tainting his image in funerals and political meetings.
“I was elected and I’m doing my work for the 5 years. So the electorates are the people who matter to me. Those who have no agenda of development should keep off my name,” he stated.
According to the Lawmaker, his development record is right and opponents should be ready for the 2027 polls.
He added that there is no need of political opponents making unnecessary noise on social media with no tangible agenda for electorates.
The Legislator used the moment to reveal that as elected leaders they will be meeting President William Ruto on various development agenda among them the issue of drainage in Nakuru West and infrastructure.
He at the same time faulted a section of politicians and activists who have been fighting development by ensuring bursary is removed from NG-CDF.
According to Arama, if bursary is done away from NG-CDF, then there should be mechanisms to ensure free secondary education.
“We have all seen what bursary has done under NG-CDF but some individuals are busy and have fought it in courts. As leaders we need to remain focused on development rather than fighting development,” he stated.
The Legislator also used the moment to urge Nakuru residents to give Governor Susan Kihika a second term to continue and complete the projects.
On national government, the MP reminded constituents the importance of working closely with the government of the day.
According to him, once elections are over all leaders both at county and national should work together towards development and transformation agenda.
He called on youth to remain vigilant and ensure President William Ruto and Governor Susan Kihika are not insulted by anyone.
“We need to respect the President and Governor Kihika. We cannot realize development through insulting our leaders,” he stated.
Arama also told off Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for playing tribal politics with his DCP Party.
According to the Lawmaker, Gachagua should not use the differences between him and his former Boss William Ruto to bring about chaos in the country and cause tribalism.
“We have no room for tribal politics in the country as some individuals led by Gachagua are doing. You cannot walk around here in West teaching me how to listen to the ground. I have always been listening to the ground and I know my role,” he said.
On his part Francis Njoroge from Governor Susan Kihika’s Political Affairs Office called for need to work smart and ensure that leaders have time to deliver on projects.
“Electing leaders for one term has a negative impact on projects and that is why we have numerous white elephant projects. However in Nakuru Governor Kihika decided to complete projects from the former regime to ensure value for money before commencing new projects,” he stated.
Njoroge used the opportunity to remind residents of Governor Kihika’s Wezesha Biashara Fund calling on all groups to apply and boost their businesses.
London Ward MCA Gatuso who graced the event stated that the greatest Investment is ensuring education for children.
He also lauded the National Government for Kazi Mtaani program.
“We thank the National Government for Kazi Mtaani and urge all our youth and women to apply,” he stated.
