SOAR Kenya Academy Founder Director and Immediate Past President Rotary Club of Nakuru Mr. James Yegon is among several individuals who graduated on Friday November 29, 2024 at Egerton University’s 48th graduation ceremony.
Yegon who is the Assistant governor in charge of two clubs i.e Maasai Mara and Enkare Narok, a rotarian at Rotary club of Nakuru graduated with a Bachelors degree in community development with second class honours upper division.
Speaking to this writer, Yegon termed the graduation a great achievement in his life, but moreso for the community.
He added that he will use the knowledge gained to help transform lives in society.
“Today I am the happiest man for this great achievement. This is not only my achievement but also for my community, my family and to many lives. I promise to use my acquired knowledge to change lives in my community,” he stated.
Yegon also used the moment to rally young people to remain focused and work hard in their studies.
While quoting the late Nelson Mandela that the only weapon to eradicate poverty is through education, Yegon urged the government to ensure that matters education are taken with seriousness.
He pointed out that education plays a big role in shaping the country’s economy.
“I also urge parents to ensure that they provide the required education to the their children,” he said.
Yegon also holds a certificate in project management, tour guiding and a diploma in social work and community development.
He reveals that he looks forward to acquiring Masters and PhD.
“My target is to acquire Masters and PHD in project management in few years to come,” he said.
According to him, the several trips he has made in foreign countries have inspired him moreso on matters education.
“I have visited several countries in Europe and I have seen how education transformed those countries. I believe we can reach where they have reached,” he said.
Through Soar Kenya, James Yegon is transforming many lives through different projects like water project, sponsorship, feeding widows and widowers, school project, sanitary towels project, mentorship and many more with the help of donors.
