Leaders joined hands on Saturday in a fundraiser towards construction of a Prayer Centre in Njoro.
Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Njoro MP Charity Kathambi were among leaders who graced the event that was also attended by interdenominational Religious Leaders.
Speaking during the event CS Ruku reiterated the key role played by church.
He noted that the government will continue to work with the church in various development agenda.
“The church plays key role and that is why the government will continue to work closely with religious leaders,” he stated.
The CS used the moment to highlight some of the development projects that the government has rolled out for Nakuru County and country at large.
He warned civil servants who are taking their work serious.
“All public servants have only one agenda and that is to serve Kenyans,” he said.
CS Ruku also told off individuals who are inciting Kenyans terming them busy bodies.
According to him, all leaders should focus on service delivery and making Kenya a better nation.
“We have individuals who have no agenda rather than causing havoc in the country, terrorizing businesses. That’s why we are calling on Judiciary to ensure such individuals are charged with terrorism and be sentenced to many years in prison,” he stated.
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika who spoke during the event lauded President William Ruto for supporting the construction of the Prayer Centre in Njoro.
According to Kihika this is a dream that was envisioned during campaigns.
Nakuru has Prayer Centres in Gilgil, Mizpah in Bahati and Subukia.
She called on church leaders to continue supporting the government in matters development.
On the recent protests by GenZs, Governor Kihika was categorical that she has no issues with the protests as long as they are peaceful and unarmed as enshrined in the constitution.
She however stated that she has an issue with the goons who invade the protests and start destroying properties.
The Governor urged parents and religious leaders to have a sitting with their children and shape them in the right direction.
“I have no issue with GenZs protesting, but my issue is with the individuals who come in to destroy properties,” she stated.
While pointing out that Nakuru has continued to enjoy peace, Kihika lauded the good working relationship with security team.
She urged religious leaders to continue working in support of peace, adding that without peace, even development cannot be realized.
The Governor told off individuals who are inciting Kenyans, terming them enemies of development.
“Nakuru County is not like any other counties. This is a very sensitive county and that is why we are saying we need to preach peace always and live in unity,” she said.
Kihika delivered President William Ruto’s contribution of Kshs 500,000,000 in support of the construction of the Prayer Centre.
Njoro MP Charity Kathambi on her part lauded President Ruto, leaders and the clergy for the support towards the same.
She added that they will continue to work with the church in ensuring sanity.
