Nakuru mourns intern medical officer at PGH
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has sent her condolences to relatives,friends,and family members of an intern medical officer who passed on.
In a statement dated January 13,2024, the County Government of Nakuru, Department of Health with regrets informed the public of an unfortunate
incident that occurred early morning (13th January 2024) at the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching
Hospital (PGH).
At approximately 7 am, the PGH security team discovered the lifeless body of a male individual in the trenches outside the Margaret Kenyatta Mother-Baby and Baby Wing.
The security team promptly alerted
the local police, who successfully evacuated the body by 9 am.
The County Government of Nakuru regrets that upon assessment, it was observed that the deceased,
identified as one of the Medical Officer interns who had been serving the hospital since August 2023,
exhibited no external injuries.
The individual still had his phone in his pocket at the time of discovery.
The family of the deceased was informed, and the body respectfully moved to the PGH mortuary, awaiting the necessary postmortem procedures.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Police are actively engaged in investigating the matter
to determine the precise cause of death.
Governor Kihika expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire PGH fraternity for the tragic loss of one of their own.
According to the statement undersigned by Health CECM Roselyn Mungai, the Government continues to collaborate with the Kenya police to investigate the incident.
