Nyandarua County Assembly members have condoled with the family of their departed colleague Nominated MCA Beth Wahito Njoroge who succumbed through a tragic road accident on Naivasha-Nakuru Highway.
Her vehicle is said to have rammed into a bus leading to her death.
Speaking at Nakuru’s Umash funeral Home where the body was transferred to from Naivasha, the MCAs led by Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Wachira Waiganjo, revealed that they had left a meeting on Nyandarua County Budget at around 10pm and that the deceased was headed home when the tragic accident happened around 11pm claiming her life.
Speaker Waiganjo termed the deceased a hardworking MCA who until her death was serving as the Vice Chair Health Committee.
She was serving her third term having served in the defunct County Council as a councillor.
He added that as County Assembly of Nyandarua, they will work closely with the family towards preparations for the burial of their colleague.
“As Nyandarua County Assembly we are mourning our colleague., we shall work closely with the family towards burial preparations. In consultations with the family, we have transfered body to Umash for proper preservation. We urge Nyandarua residents to be patient and stand with the family during this difficult time,” he stated.
Njambini MCA Kiiru Gachomba on his part termed the deceased a leader who served with dedication.
According to Gachomba, MCA Wahito was a selfless leader.
He called on the family to be strong during this difficult time.
“We have lost not just a colleague but also a friend and a leader who served well with dedication,” he stated.
Former Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Joel Maina Kairu revealed that the deceased is also a cousin.
According to Kairu, recently the deceased did not make it to a family gathering at Ngorika as she was attending to budget issues with colleague MCAs.
“We are saddened by her death. She is my cousin and Kairu family we are saddened by the death,” he stated.
Kairu also used the moment to thank the MCAs and the entire county Assembly of Nyandarua for the role played since the death occured.
MCA Kariuki Waithera who represented Senator Methu during the presser was categorical that Nyandarua County has lost a great leader.
He noted that the deceased shared a Constituency.
“I am here on behalf of Senator Methu who is on other official duties. We have lost a leader and the Senator is with the family during this difficult time,” he stated.
According to Muchiri Njoroge who is a brother to the deceased, termed the death as a great blow to the family.
He added that as a family, they have agreed to have postmortem done and wait for the pathologist’s report.
“We used to communicate a lot and even before the tragic accident we had shared and she told me she was in a meeting on matters budget. It’s so unfortunate that we have lost her,” stated the brother.
