Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company(NAWASSCO) on Monday March 17 held public participation on new water tariffs.
The meeting follows an outcry from members of the public over what they termed is NAWASSCO imposing new tariffs without their input.

Members of the public were planning to have peaceful demonstrations up to NAWASSCO offices within Nakuru CBD on Tuesday to demand answers from the water company.
However, the Monday Public participation meetings came just in hand as members of the public had opportunity to air their concerns around the new tariffs.

Led by NAWASSCO Commercial Manager James Muthee, the staff took members of the public through sensitization on new metre tariffs.
Mr. Muthee called on members of the public to support the company in the new move that is meant to improve services.
He added that the new metres are up to standard and urged members of the public to also report any challenges they might encounter.
“We are committed towards improving services and that is why we are even coming up with new metre tariffs. We need to embrace change for our own good,” he stated.
The team from NAWASSCO took members of the public through the new tariffs and how they work.
According to NAWASSCO, the new tariffs will be more favourable than the current ones that were last reviewed in 2018 by Water Services Regulatory Board(WASREB).
The meeting was also attended by MCAs Neto Sakwa(Kivumbini) Personal Assistant Charles Okumu, Fadhili Msuri(Biashara) Personal Assistant Stephen Rono, Staff from NAWASSCO, Governor Mashinani Representative Amadi Kahero, Representative from MP David Gikaria’s office and stakeholders among others.
