Various groups in Naivasha East Ward in Nakuru County have benefited from County distribution of chicks program.
The County Government of Nakuru has distributed over 4,530 one-month and half-old improved kienyeji chicks to the groups.
The distribution took place in Maraigushu, Kinungi, Ihindu, and Sosion Zones.
Forty-five (45)farmer groups benefited, among women and widow groups, youths, and People with Disabilities groups.
During the event, farmers were also trained on proper management, feeding modes, and medications for the chicks.
Livestock, Fisheries, and Veterinary Services Chief Officer Dr. Michael Cheruiyot said that the program is set to empower the farmers economically and enhance food security in the county.
Dr. Cheruiyot further encouraged farmers to ensure they work closely with the extension officers for advice on proper agronomic practices to ensure there is no mortality of the chicks.
