MP Kathambi launches NG-CDF completed classrooms with calls on parents to support teachers in shaping morals among learners

Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has called on parents to support school heads in ensuring high levels of discipline among learners that will also impact positively on performance.

Kathambi pointed out that morals and discipline among learners should not be left to teachers alone, but it is a collective responsibility.

She was speaking at Utafiti Comprehensive School in Njoro Ward on Wednesday when she launched two classrooms constructed by Njoro NG-CDF kitty Financial year 2023/2024.

While reiterating her commitment on education matters, the Lawmaker assured parents that under her leadership no child should miss out school.

The launch of the classrooms is a milestone in Njoro constituency Schools upgrade programme Agenda.

The project, the MP said part of her continuous infrastructure improvement across schools,

It aims at providing conducive learning environment and addressing perennial challenges.
She called on Parents to support education sector, adding that it is the best a parent can give their children.
“We need to support our teachers who are doing great work. As parents we may not have parcels of land for our children to inherit, but we can have them get quality education. We need to support our teachers in the sacrifices they make,” she stated.
During the event, Kathambi lauded the Boards of Management(BOM) of various schools for the good work of managing the funds sent to schools by government.
She reiterated that the NG-CDF kitty should be safeguarded as it holds the future of the development at Constituency level.
The MP also made a promise to lobby to have an administration block at Utafiti Comprehensive School to help decongest staff room.
In addition, the MP urged the School head to make a request for emergency fund from NG-CDF towards construction of new toilets, and that the next priority for the school will be school bus.
At the same time, The Legislator while noting that security of learners and moreso girl child at night is key, she called on parents to shun the habit of sending girls to shops at night.
According to her, such a step will help address teenage pregnancies, rape and defilement cases.
“Early pregnancies and rape cases have been occasioned by the factors such as sending children to shops at night. We should have one agenda of ensuring education for our children and that all our children are in School,” she stated.
She at the same time sounded stern warning to perpetrators of Gender Based Violence to keep off school going girls, adding that parents too should up parenting roles.
Reacting to reports by security team on matters Drugs and substance abuse leading to insecurity in Njoro, Kathambi pointed out that they will continue to work closely with security team towards a drug and illicit brew free Njoro.
“Here in Njoro, we have made a commitment that we shall work with our Sub county security team to ensure maximum security for our people because we know without security development cannot be realized,” she said.
The school administration revealed that the school is now 12 years old and currently at 1200 pupil population and a total of 36 teachers.
The event also saw MP Kathambi Launch Launch of Environment conservation projects in schools through 4K Clubs.
The Mazingira project funded by Njoro NG-CDF kitty will go a long way in trees nursery establishment and work closely with schools towards conservation in line with government’s agenda on forest cover.
