Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama has challenged journalists to be fair in their reporting.
Speaking during a free legal aid clinic held on Saturday at Nakuru West NG-CDF office, the Lawmaker cited incidents where there was unfairness in media coverage.
He recalled a time when he was arrested over a case and arraigned and it breaking news in all media outlets.
In the matter, Arama reveals that he was fined Kshs 1.6 million which he paid.
However he filed a case in High Court challenging the manner in which the case was handled and he won , but media did not consider such as breaking news.
“When I was at one time arrested and arraigned, media people were all over with breaking news for almost two weeks. But when I filed a case in high Court and won, they did not see that as news,” he stated.
The Lawmaker added that media a times are focused more on the prominence of the person.
He challenged journalists to always be fair in their reporting.
Arama also used the moment to challenge police officers over what he termed is unnecessary arrests over petty offences that can be addressed without arrests.
During the event, Arama also lauded the Judiciary for the continued professionalism in ensuring justice is served.
The event was organized to help sensitize members of the public on matters Law.
Areas covered included land, inheritance, trusts, and succession.
The legal team engaged residents, responding to various questions raised.
Arama thanked the Lawyers and encouraged them to come and practice in Nakuru.
