Meet the flamboyant PS Nixon Korir

Many know him as the former Lang’ata Member of Parliament.

However the current Principal Secretary Lands and Physical Planning Nixon Korir is not new in politics.

He once served as the Secretary Youth Affairs where his role involved oversight of youth-related functions of the Government of Kenya including the Uwezo Fund, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, the National Youth Service and the Kenya National Volunteers Programme.

Korir graduated from Moi High School Kabarak in 2004 and enrolled in the University of Nairobi (UON) in 2006.

He later qualified as a lawyer, having graduated from UON in December 2011.

The forme Lang’ata MP traces roots in Rongai, Nakuru County as well as Baringo County with sources having it that in 2027 he might try his work in parliamentary seat in any of the counties that border each other.

But did you know that Korir once served as Personal Assistant to President William Ruto when he was the MP for Eldoret North Constituency?

Well, the National Assembly website indicates that Korir served as the Personal Assistant to the then Eldoret North Member of Parliament (MP) William Ruto between 2010 and 2011.

Perhaps the reason why President William Ruto has maintained the relationship appointing him to the position of PS.

But Korir’s leadership capabilities began sometimes back when he was at UoN where he served in various leadership positions including Secretary-General of the Students Union.

In 2011, Korir partnered with other youths to form the United Republican Party (URP) in which he was the executive director.

In 2013 election, Korir made his first stab at elective politics but lost to ODM’s Joash Olum by 7,654 votes in the Lang’ata parliamentary race.

In 2017, he made history by successfully contested Lang’ata Parliamentary seat on Jubilee ticket despite the Constituency being perceived an ODM zone.

In 2022 he unsuccessfully contested the same seat where ODM’s Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalango emerged the winner.

As a gentleman, Korir conceded defeat.

Korir who believes in smart politics, congratulated Jalango stating that ‘siasa si chuki’.

He is among the youngest and most powerful
