Leaders condemn Angara Barrikoi killings

The killing of 5 persons over land dispute in Angara Barrikoi, Narok County has been condemned by leaders.

The leaders are now calling for amicable solution to avert more deaths.

Led by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, the leaders called for an amicable solution.

“I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barrikoi. My heartfelt condolences to all affected,” he stated.

Senator Ledama assured that he will stand firmly with the affected during this difficult time.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei termed the killings as senseless calling an end to such.

“The senseless killings in Angata Baragoi , Trans Mara MUST stop over land dispute . It’s unfortunate that 60years later after Independence there is still extra judicial killings what happened to sanctity of lives ?.,” he stated.

The Senator conveyed his message of condolence to the families of those killed.

While noting that there should be respect for the law, Senator Cherargei called on the authority to come out clear on what happened leading to the deaths.

“The authorities must tell us what happened This country is of rule of law and constitution,” he stated.

Five people lost their lives in a violent clash in Angara Barrikoi, Narok County.

The violence erupted Monday April 28, 2025 following a dispute over a piece of land, resulting in the confirmed deaths of five individuals.

Local residents, claiming historical ownership of the land, blocked the main road to prevent land officials from surveying the area.

The protest quickly escalated into violent clashes with police officers, leading to injuries on both sides.

In addition to the fatalities, a vehicle belonging to the land officials was damaged during the unrest.

The vehicle was attacked by residents, further intensifying the already tense situation.

The damage to the vehicle, seen as a symbol of the government’s intervention, added to the growing frustration and anger in the community.

Officer in charge of Angata Barrikoi Health Centre, Joel Langat, reported that four people were brought in dead, and one succumbed while undergoing treatment, all having sustained gunshot wounds.
