Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has strongly condemned the surge in incitement and tribal politics being spearheaded in the country.
Speaking in Njoro during the burial of Mzee Samson Gichau and Mama Julia Wairimu Gichau at Mwigito Area in Njoro Sub county, Kihika slammed those spearheading hatred among Nakuru residents and Kenyans as a whole.
She noted that as leaders in Nakuru, they will not remain silent when few individuals are out to mess the fabric of peace in society.
The tough talking Kihika was categorical that the law will soon catch up with such individuals.
Kihika called on Nakuru residents to to embrace peace, and shun sentiments that are aimed at dividing the cosmopolitan County and lead to shed and destruction of property as was witnessed in the past.
She added that she will not be swayed by individuals who are out with early politics of division and tribalism.
During the burial ceremony, Kihika also took time to highlight her development record assuring residents that her focus is on delivering on the promises she made during campaigns.
“Let’s not jeopardize the peaceful coexistence especially here in Nakuru County that’s too precious to compromise. The surge in incitement and divisive slogans threatens to erode the very foundation of our harmony, to the detriment of us all. Instead of fanning these flames, let’s make our voices heard at the ballot box during the upcoming election,” she stated.
