Democracy for the Citizens Party(DCP) Nakuru Branch has decried what they term is harassment of members by state.
Addressing Press on Thursday July 3, 2025 at the Party office in Milimani, Nakuru, officials of the Party called out the government.
Led by Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku, they pointed out that there has been plot by government to harass and intimidate vocal DCP members in Nakuru.
Nasieku cited Nakuru DCP gubernatorial aspirant CPA Geofrey Mwangi, Molo MCA Joseph Ngware and Iron Lady Asumpta Wangui who were summoned by DCI.
According to SG Nasieku, the move is attempt by government to silence them.
He was however quick to state that such tactics will not deter DCP members in Nakuru from speaking the truth and calling out government.
“We have seen some of DCP members in Nakuru being intimidated by state agencies such as DCI. We want to send a strong message to the President that stop using stare agencies to intimidate DCP members. The writing is on the wall,” states Nasieku.
Sentiments echoed by Asumpta Wangui who was on Thursday July 3 grilled by DCI alongside human rights defender Maimuna Mwinyi.
Asumpta stated that such tactics make her even stronger knowing that she is fighting for the rights of Kenyans.
She added that as a Kenyan who believes in rights enshrined in the constitution, she will continue to speak out and call out evil, atrocities.
“We cannot be silenced by state for speaking the truth. No single intimidation will deter us from speaking the truth,” stated Asumpta.
Commonly referred to as Iron Lady, Asumpta maintained that the SabaSaba meeting is a celebration of democracy and those who fought for it, adding that she will join other Kenyans in marking the day.
According to her, the ongoing abductions and killings in the country must come to an end.
She wondered why the government felt rattled when civil society groups and leaders of sobre mind are calling out for an end to the same.
“We need to call out government to ensure that no lives are lost in this country as is happening with abductions here and there,” she said.
