The media has been challenged to focus on positive stories that can contribute to the growth of the economy and nation at large.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says the media for many years has been focusing on negative stories that have no value on the growth of the nation.
Speaking when he graced the Nakuru ASK National Show on Friday July 4, 2025, Kagwe was categorical that there are numerous development stories even in the Agriculture sector that the Media can focus on.
He noted that smart agriculture aims to transform the economy as well as address challenges of climate change.
The CS reiterated the importance of Agricultural Shows as a platform for farmers to engage and learn in the new ways of farming even with the emergence of technology.
Kagwe who was the Chief Guest, assured the farmers that the government is working towards making agriculture key aspects in the growth of economy.
He also challenged young people to focus on agriculture adding that the government has plans to make agriculture more appealing to young people.
“We have had challenges of young people not embracing Agriculture. But I can assure you that as a Ministry under President William Ruto’s administration, we are working to make agriculture more sexy and appealing to our young people. We need youth to venture into this sector so that we can help grow our economy,” stated Kagwe.
It should be noted that the Nakuru ASK National Show opened doors to public on July 2, 2025 and it will run up to July 6, 2025.
