Bahati MP Irene Njoki has been in the forefront in advocating for the interests of her electorates.
With Thousands of Dundori farmers depending on controlled farming within forests to sustain their livelihoods, MP Njoki has taken up the matter seriously.
According to the Lawmaker, the recent suspension of this system posed a significant threat to their well-being.
A situation that saw the MP engage Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki and County Forest Conservator on the same.
The engagement aimed at ensuring that farmers continue earning a living through the Shamba system.
“I engaged Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and worked closely with the County Forest Conservator Mr. Humphrey Osoro Monari to ensure that these farmers continue earning a living through the shamba farming system,” stated MP Njoki.
The Lawmaker was however quick to point out that this comes with a shared responsibility.
She challenged all the farmers to conserve forests by planting and protecting more trees.
The Legislator reiterated her commitment towards ensuring policies that balance environmental conservation with sustainable livelihoods.
“As your Member of Parliament, I remain committed to advocating for policies that balance environmental conservation with sustainable livelihoods. Together, we will continue building a greener and more prosperous future for our constituency,” she stated.
