Nakuru East MCAs Neto Sakwa(Kivumbini), Fadhili Msuri(Biashara), and David Muraya Muna(Flamingo) have called for inclusive engagement on ongoing matters registration of county houses.
The issue has elicited mixed reactions among tenants.
In a joint media address at Kamkunji Grounds on Friday February 7, 2025, the MCAs stated categorically that they have not been part of the ongoing process being spearheaded by some individuals who have hidden agenda.
They at the same time slammed those planning meetings such as the recent meeting held in Shabab Nakuru West, for failing to adhere to the interests of the people.
MCA Sakwa stated that Kivumbini and Flamingo Wards are already having a serious issue of missing Brian Odhiambo to be addressed hence bringing up the issue of county houses at the moment is I’ll advised and might create more tension.
He added that time is now for the ongoing process of county houses registration to come to a halt until the issue of Brian is addressed.
According to Sakwa, issues of County Houses registration needs serious inclusive engagement with elected leaders and tenants before anything commences.
Sentiments echoed by Flamingo Ward MCA David Muraya who called on the Housing Department to halt the program and ensure public participation is carried out for tenants across the three Wards.
On his part MCA Fadhili Msuri(Biashara) was categorical that they are in support of the area MP David Gikaria that the process should not be done in a hurry, as it might cause more harm than good.
It should be noted that during a meeting at Kamukunji Grounds sometime back, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika had indicated that there shall be a waiver on rent arrears for tenants in county Houses before commencement of new payment of rent to the County Government of Nakuru
