The Senate has upheld the impeachment motion of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The motion had originated from the National Assembly.
After thorough deliberations, the Senate found sufficient grounds to uphold the charges among them gross violation of the constitution, officially removing Gachagua from office.
This makes Gachagua the first Deputy President in Kenya’s history to be impeached.
