Nakuru DCP Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku has weighed in on sentiments made by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula over Teachers Service Commission jobs.
In the viral video, Wetangula reveals that he took MPs to the the President to receive TSC letters of appointments which some of the MPs ended up selling to some vulnerable in need of jobs.
The sentiments have elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans.
Nakuru County DCP Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku who has strongly condemned the same, says it is wrong that the country is headed in such direction.
According to him, Teaching is a professional career that should be respected just like other professions.
In a statement, Nasieku was categorical that Teachers recruitment should not be used a s a political tool.
He adds that if such trend goes on, then the whole recruitment process is undermined and lowers public trust in the whole process.
The vocal DCP officials now worried that such a trend might be replicated in other sectors hence deny chance to Kenyans who qualify.
“A teaching job should be earned through merit, competence and established recruitment procedures and not through political loyalty, personal connections or proximity to those in power. If these goes on then it means that even a time will come when any Kenyan seeking medical services in our health facilities will have to have connections first,” stated Nasieku.
Nasieku now wants independent instructions and commissions respected and allowed to play their role without any interferance.
