County on move to strengthen food safety initiatives

Nakuru County is strengthening its food safety initiatives since the operationalization of the Nakuru County Public Health Food Laboratory two months ago.

To further strengthen these efforts, the County’s Department of Health, with support from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) conducted a follow-up training for Sub County Food Safety Focal Persons, Public Health Officers, and Nutritionists from across the county on food safety and fortification.

These initiatives is part of Governor Susan Kihika’s efforts in ensuring the safety of the food consumed by residents, reducing foodborne illnesses, and promoting public health.
