
Bondeni FC have been crowned champions of CS Zack Njeru-sponsored Eid Mubarak Cup after scoring 2 goals to 1 against Kivumbini FC at Kamukunji grounds in Bondeni.
First half of the match both teams ended in a draw of 1-1.
Second half, Bondeni FC added their second goal giving them early lead in a match attended by hundreds of fans led by Water Cabinet Secretary Zack Njeru at the famous Kamukunji grounds.
The winner was awarded a trophy and Ksh 300,000 while number 2 was awarded a trophy and Ksh 200,000 by CS Njeru.
Boxing and Karate teams were also given monetary award.
Bondeni Welfare Group of women was also given gifts(Sufurias, 200 plates,200 cups,100 seats and a tent) towards their economic empowerment.
Speaking during the event, CS Njeru, said the Cup was meant to help and empower young people.
He noted that having been born in Bondeni, he is aware of the numerous talents that young people have and therefore should be tapped.
The CS vowed to organize similar tournaments which will incorporate other sports as a way of helping young people earn a living through talents.
He noted that sports can help keep young people off crime hence become productive.
“We are doing this so that we can help empower our young people who have talents. We have just started with football but moving forward we shall have other similar tournaments that will have other sports too,” he said.
The CS was accompanied by his spouse, MCAs led by Fadhili Msuri (Biashara Ward) and Neto Sakwa(Kivumbini).
