Nakuru Activist is seeking to limit Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies to two terms of office.
Laban Omusundi who is not new to the corridors of justice, reveals that he has drafted a petition on the same.
Omusundi says he will be headed to High court over the matter.
According to him, this petition will shake political landscape in Kenya.
“After spending 365 days on in-depth research and legal drafting, I will be filing an 83-page petition in the High Court seeking to limit MCAs, MPs and Senators to a maximum of two terms—just like the President and Governors,” stated Omusundi.
The petitioner, say his petition is firmly grounded on Article 27 on equality before the law and Article 10, which outlines the principles of good governance.
One of the key reliefs sought is to compel the IEBC to bar any candidate who has already served two terms from contesting for the same seat again.
He argues that it is a move meant to end political monopoly, create space for new leadership, and foster a political culture based on fairness, accountability, and citizen-centered service.
“This petition will shake the foundations of Kenya’s political establishment, suspending political entrenchment and dynasties, opening up opportunities for the youth and realigning our politics with the spirit of the Constitution,” he stated.
