Well-wishers reach out to needy families in Barut with Christmas food baskets

It was a joyous moment on Saturday December 21, 2024 as over 200 needy families in lower Barut, Nakuru West Sub county received food baskets from well wishers.

The exercise that was led by Joab Okello, Rotarians, Rotaracts and a group of volunteers saw every family go home with Christmas food hamper.

The donation was through partnership; Ubunifu co-Founder Connor Reilly who put together the online fundraiser and collected funds from American friends, with additional donation from Mr.Shamsher Gilanis and SCANN.

“What a successful day today distributing chrismas food baskets to over 200 beneficiaries,” stated Joab.

He also used the opportunity to thank donors and volunteers that made it all possible.

According to Joab, this gesture will go a long way in ensuring the needy families have something to smile about during this festive season.

He added that the identification of beneficiaries was done through the area Assistant Chief and village elders of Parkview Barut.

A similar exercise will take place in upper Barut on December 24, 2024 under coordination of Immediate Past President Rotary Club of Nakuru James Yegon.
