Ubunifu Bookclub Competition held at Barut with calls to embrace reading culture

The first ever Ubunifu Bookclub Competition was held on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at Barut-based Ubunifu Hub.

Under the theme ‘Promoting Reading Culture’ , the event saw learners from various schools in Nakuru West engage in the competition.

There were various activities among them the reading competition, spelling competition as well as heated debates on various topics.

Schools represented during the event included Barut,Kiptenden,Eileen Ngochoch,Soar Kenya and Bright Fountain schools.

Speaking to this writer, Co-founder Ubunifu Learning Hub Joab Okello lauded the event, saying it will go a long way to encourage reading culture.

He urged stakeholders in the education sector to support such a initiatives that are aimed and ensuring education for all, which in turn will help eradicate poverty.

According to Okello, with resources and good planning this will be an annual event.

During the event, winners in the various categories walked away with trophies.
