The 43rd edition of the Kenya Communications Sports Organizations (KECOSO) Games kicked off weekend at the Nakuru ASK showground.
A total of 13 member organizations are participating in this annual sporting event.
They include, Ministries of Roads and Transport, ICT and Digital Economy, Youth Affairs Sports and Arts and parastatals that fall under the three ministries.
The objectives of KECOSO are to promote sports through nurturing of talent, create stronger relationships and business interactions, and enhance awareness of the services and products offered by individual members.
Nakuru County Executive for Youth, Gender, Culture, Sports, Social Services and Inclusivity, Josephine Atieno, representing Governor Susan Kihika during the opening ceremony, lauded the KECOSO leadership for choosing Nakuru County to host the event for the seventh time.
She noted that this is a testament to the County’s capability in organizing large scale sporting events.
This year’s event features 12 disciplines including athletics, golf, snooker, swimming, basketball, football, darts, pool, scrabble, volleyball, netball and table tennis.
The opening ceremony was graced by among others; Hezron Nyamberi representing the CS, Ministry of ICT and The Digital Economy, Dr. Margaret Ndung’u, Kenya Airports Authority(KAA) Board Chair Caleb Kositany, Omar Ali, Deputy County Commissioner, Nakuru Town West, and KECOSO leadership.
