Rotary Club of Nakuru on Thursday August 27, 2026 launched 3rd Batch of Biogas Units in Nakuru.
The units were launched in Gilgil and Gitare RCCs led by Rotary Club of Nakuru President Rtd Col Rtn Raymond Cheruiyot in company of Immediate Past President Ephantus Wachira.
The event was also graced by Biogas Project Contact Person Rtn Dennis Sang, Rtn Florence, Rtr Felix, prospective Rotarian Paul, and RCC Coordinator Rebecca.
The ten units are part of 120 biogas units sponsored by the Rotary E-Club of Australia Nomads, Bob and Louise Lemon, through a Rotary Foundation Global Grant, with the Rotary Club of Nakuru as the implementing partner.
According to the President, the project advances Rotary’s commitment to Supporting the Environment by promoting biogas as clean, renewable green energy.
By reducing dependence on firewood, biogas helps conserve trees and protect the environment.
It also reduces exposure to smoke, which can irritate and damage the eyes and lungs, thereby creating healthier homes for families.
The team was warmly received at Gilgil RCC by community members led by Mrs Grace Wahome and at Gitare RCC by members led by Mr Njuguna.
The Club appreciated all community members who turned up for the launch and sincerely thanks the donors for their continued support.
With demand for biogas units remaining high, the Rotary Club of Nakuru appeals to the donors and partners to continue supporting the expansion of this life-changing project so that more families can access clean energy, better health and a sustainable environment.
