Persons abled differently(PWDs) in Eldoret on Sunday August 30, 2027 had a reason to smile after receiving assistive devices courtesy of Rani Ramchandani Foundation in partnership with Team Strong Community-based Organization among others.
The event held at Central Primary School grounds in Moiben Constituency saw huge number of PWDs turn up for the empowerment program aimed at putting smile in their faces, giving them dignity and confidence.
Rani Ramchandani Foundation that was represented by founder Dr. Rani Ramchandani Hsc in company of Christine Khalisia,John Ngugi, Salan Achieng and Shine Bukose, donated more than 120 assistive devices to the PWDs.
The devices included Tri-cylcles, wheelchairs, arm crutches, earing assistive devices as well as white canes.
Speaking to famousnakuru.co.ke at Central Primary School grounds during the event, Dr. Rani Ramchandani Hsc revealed that her team was on ground a month ago where they did assessment of the PWDs to ascertain the type of assistive devices needed for each.
A total 200 persons underwent the assessment where 130 were registered to receive the devices while the rest were referred to Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“As a Foundation, we felt it great to assist the PWDs in Eldoret and that is why we partnered with Team Strong Community-based Organization towards this noble task,” she stated.
Dr. Rani Ramchandani Hsc used the moment to rally on society to embrace every person abled differently and ensure they have a smile in their faces and that they feel part and parcel of society.
She noted that if empowered, PWDs can do great even in matters economy growth through their various entrepreneurial skills.
The event also doubled up as a platform for official launch of Team Strong CBO in Eldoret- a CBO that will continue to lobby through Social Media mobilization towards transformation of communities and vulnerable communities by giving back to the community.
During the event, Key Note speaker Apostle Dan Wema reiterated that Humanity has no boundaries, no tribe nor religion but it calls for a caring heart.
Sentiments echoed by area MP Prof Phylis Bartoo(Moiben Constituency and Nominated MCA Regina Chumba(Representing PWDs).
The duo stated that the empowerment of PWDs is giving them confidence and dignity and lauded Rani Ramchandani Foundation and Team Strong CBO for the gesture.
