Businesses are counting losses in Nakuru after protestors stormed their premises.
Two supermarkets West end Supermarket in Nakuru’s Kiratina estate and Stagematt Supermarket in Barnabas were invaded by protestors making away with several foodstuffs and non food items.
The owners of the two premises are counting losses of unknown value.
At Barnabas centre several people were injured during the protests as Police worked to disperse the protests.
At West end Supermarket that is situated on a building that also houses Classic Lounge as well as Epic Liquor Wines and spirits, total damage occasioned by the looting.
Famousnakuru.co.ke understands that the building is owned by former Nakuru Speaker Joel Maina Kairu who was seen at the scene immediately after the incident.
Attempts by journalists to seek audience with Kairu hit a snag after he refused to address press.
The owner of the supermarket too was traumatized so were staff who also failed to address press.
In addition, protestors tried to storm Mwariki Police station in Pipeline as well as Free Area AP Camp where Chief’s and Nakuru Town East National Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF) offices are situated by they were contained by Police officers.
Though the protests did not make it to Nakuru CBD, the scars were felt in Barnabas and Free Area estates on the outskirts of Nakuru City.
