Kenya’s Presidential hopeful and a member of USA Presidential Advisory Board Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity now says the US Congress should call an emergency session to discuss the order given to Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen by President William Ruto, to ruthlessly deal with Gen Z who will turn out to protest on Thursday even as another Finance Bill is signed into Law.
President Ruto who praised MPs for passing the Bill while warning protesters, signed it into Law on Tuesday June 23, 2026 ahead of the Thursday June 25, 2026 protests across the country.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is on record issuing warning ahead of the planned June 25 Gen Z protests second year anniversary, saying the government will deal firmly with anyone who uses demonstrations to commit crimes.
Speaking in Nandi during the burial ceremony of the wife of veteran politician Henry Kosgey, Murkomen said the right to protest is protected by the Constitution but should not be used as a cover for violence, looting or destruction.
Meanwhile, section of opposition leaders among them Siaya Governor James Orengo, Martha Karua and families of victims of the 2024 Finance Bill protests who lost their lives, earlier this week presented a notice to the office of the Inspector General of Police concerning the demonstrations.
According to the opposition leaders, the Thursday’s protests are in honor of the Gen Zs who lost their lives as they went to the streets to call out bad governance.
And even as the Thursday’s protests nears, calls for the constitution to be respected as far as the rights of protests, picketing and assembling are concerned continue to pour from human rights defenders.
Dr Isaac Newton Kinity argues that there I no need for what happened in the past to repeat itself adding that Kenya is a country that is governed by the law and not dictatorship.
In a Press Release to Newsrooms, Dr. Kinity who has declared interest in the 2027 Presidential race in Kenya, called out the government of Kenya to respect the rule of law.
He regretted that many lives of young people have been lost in the past in the hands of ruthless police officers and time is now to ensure there I no such repeat and that those who were culpable of such should face full wrath of law.
Dr. Kinity added that the USA is known for its democratic principles and beliefs. It is also known for its human rights respect. Therefore, It should not lax its concern over the any killings of the Gen Z in Kenya on June 25, 2026.
“Innocent GenZs have been killed in the past including during the anti 2024 Finance Bill protests. This is a very serious matter because the lives of the Kenyans have to be saved. I also hope that President Donald J. Trump will execute his promise of probing the abductions in Kenya as he promised a few months ago,’’ he stated.
The former unionist also took a jab at Dr. Fred Matiang’i of Jubilee in what he says he is trying to play an angel by calling for public inquest into the killings.
According to Kinity, Kenya has had hundreds, if not thousands, of public inquiries, commissions of inquiries, and public inquests in the last six decades.
However, no findings from all those inquiries and inquest have ever been made public, but argues they have all along been used to dilute temperatures and anger of Kenyans after certain atrocities are committed by those in authority and in power, cover up atrocities, and bury the truth about atrocities committed.
“They should provide Kenyans with the names of all those bodies that were found at the Yala River because the DCI collected the finger prints and the DNA of all the victims whose dead bodies were dumped at the Yala River. The possibility that the revelation of the names of the victims will reveal the circumstances of their death cannot be ruled out. Reveal the names, and the truth will come out. Public inquest is just nonsense and a way of buying time and burying the entire issue of the Yala River massacre,” he said.
