Heavy police presence was on Thursday June 25, 2026 spotted within Nakuru CBD on the day meant for GenZs Protest Anniversary.
The situation remained tense, with officers deployed in key areas.
This, in what appears a precautionary measure in response to potential unrest or planned demonstrations.
A spot check by famous Nakuru.co.ke also indicates that several shops remained closed with only few operating.
As at mid-day, there was no any indication of anniversary protests in Nakuru as journalists were spotted too trying to do some live links along Kenyatta Avenue within the CBD.
Nakuru Human Rights defender David Kuria Western who spoke to famousnakuru.co.ke revealed that there is possibility that there will be no anniversary protests in Nakuru.
According to Kuria, the families affected by the 2024 Anti-finance Bill protests had not turned up for the protests in Nakuru.
He added that the protests were in honor of those who lost lives during the protests hence absence of the families then makes it irrelevant.
Kuria was however quick to call out on government to ensure compensation of the families who were devastated by the unfoldings of the the previous protests.
On the issue of heavy presence of police officers at various points in Nakuru CBD, Kuria pointed out that the strategy was key in enhancing calmness and ensuring security.
He pointed out that issues always arise when there is confrontation between police and members of the public.
