The Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) Party has vowed to field candidates in their strongholds in Nakuru County.
This was revealed during a meeting for Nakuru ODM East Delegates held in Bondeni.
During the meeting, it emerged that the ODM Party strongly believes and will continue to support the Broadbased Government.
However, the Nakuru Town East Delegates were quick to point out that their partner in Broadbased Government UDA should allow ODM to field candidates in their stronghold areas.
Led by Nakuru Town East ODM Chairman Mr Fredrick Owino, they vowed to continue revamping the ODM Party at grassroot.
He lauded the Nakuru County ODM Coordinating office and the National ODM office for the Broadbased arrangement.
The delegates also lauded Nakuru Town East MP and Senatorial aspirant David Gikaria for the support and ensuring continued grassroot engagement as far as Broadbased Government is concerned.
“As Nakuru East ODM fraternity, we fully back the Broadbased Government and we thank all those who have played role in ensuring the arrangement works. Moving forward we shall continue to support the Broadbased arrangement but also ensure our party remains strong,” he stated.
Sentiments echoed by Nakuru ODM Youth Leader Allan Nyawacha.
The Youth Leader pointed out that the conversation around governance and leadership shall continue all through towards the 2027 general elections.
He revealed that the youth in Nakuru who back the Broadbased Government will be engaging in a peace walk in all the Wards of Nakuru County starting with Biashara Ward.
Nyawacha called on all youth within ODM Party as well as those from UDA to join the noble task in ensuring that young people are sensitized towards registering as voters so that their voice can be felt.
“As youth we support Broadbased even as we revamp our ODM Party. We shall be having peace walk in our wards to rally more membership,” stated Nyawacha.
Ida Odhiambo from the ODM Women League Nakuru East supported the direction being taken by ODM Youth leadership led by Allan Nyawacha.
She noted that such walks will go a long way in selling the Party ideas and also deal with the negative notion that ODM gas been swallowed by the Kenya Kwanza Government.
“The idea that ODM Youth Leader Allan Nyawacha has come up with is an idea whose time has come. We need more of such walks to rally more membership and also to help people understand that ODM not yet swallowed by anyone,” she said.
She at the same time lauded Nakuru Town East Lawmaker David Gikaria for enriching the spirit of Broadbased in Nakuru County.
Affirming the same, Nakuru County ODM Chairperson Bernard Miruka was categorical that as a Party Nakuru Branch, the structures are well in place.
He pointed out that moving to elections, the Broadbased arrangement should be rolled down to County, Constituency, and even Ward Level.
According to Miruka, there should be conversation around the same to avert confusion and that the spirit of Broadbased arrangement continues.
He was quick to point out that there are some areas that stand out as stronghold areas of ODM hence no need for negotiations on the same.
“There are some areas that we shall not have negotiations as a party despite being in Broadbased,” stated Miruka.
The Nakuru County ODM Chairperson also used the moment to urge aspirants to respect each other ahead of the party Primaries and general polls 2027.
He assured those who will be contesting on ODM ticket that there shall be free and fair Party Primaries.
