Lanet Umoja Ward vibrant aspirant Peter Mandela Chek is taking frontline in clearing drainages in Lanet Umoja Ward ahead of expected El nino rains.
The Aspirant is leading locals in the exercise across the Ward as a precaution measure.
“As we prepare for the heavy rains predicted by the Kenya Meteorological Department, we cannot afford to wait until our roads are flooded and communities are cut off. Preparedness must begin now,” he stated.
The scope of work includes clearance of blocked drainage systems within Lanet Umoja Ward, that will ensure no flooding on roads.
The vibrant aspirant pointed out that Across the Ward, several roads continue to face serious challenges, including blocked drainage systems, potholes and sections where stagnant water accumulates.
He added that during heavy downpour these conditions make roads difficult rendering them impossible for use.
According to him, such challenges affect businesses, children, farmers, workers and every resident who depends on these roads daily.
He revealed that once elected, one of his key priorities will be to advocate for clean, accessible, properly maintained and passable roads throughout the year.

The MCA aspirant who is ready to take over Leadership mantle from the current regime, opines that Leadership is not about waiting until you are in office to care about the problems facing the community, but it is about identifying challenges, mobilising people and taking meaningful steps towards solutions.
He believes that unity is key moving forward Towards transformation of Lanet Umoja Ward.
