When you want to learn more about history, then you have it all in Nakuru County, the county of unlimited opportunities.
Nakuru County is blessed with prehistoric sites that were discovered many years ago.
One such is Kariandusi Pre-historic site that now doubles up as a Museum.
The site is found in Gilgil Sub-county and situated some 2Km from to the East of Lake Elementaita just a few kilometers from Nakuru City.
Well, did you know Kariandusi Pre-historic site dates back about one million years as one of Africa’s early stone age sites.
Founded by Louis Leakey after discovering it in 1928.
History has it that he would later make two more trips to the site in 1931 and 1946.
These trips were basically for further research.
Currently under Kenya National Museums, the site is rich in history.
On many occasions, students congregate here to learn more on history of stone age.
The site’s main attractions include; Camp site, Nature trail, Archaeological site, Museum Exhibition Hall, Picnic site, the Gorge, Monumental Church Building and Bird Watching.
Entry fee is Ksh 100 for adults and Ksh 50 for below 16 years.
For East Africa residents entry is Ksh 400 while below 16 years is Ksh 200.
For East Africa non residents, entry fee is Ksh 500 adults and Ksh 250 for those below 16 years.
