
Residents of London, in Nakuru West have been urged to be cautious following the formation of sinkhole in the area.

Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibara who visited the scene revealed that a similar incident has been witnessed in Gilgil but on land as well as Mai Mahiu.
This, he said is due to the weak points caused by faultlines and the heavy rains.

He added that faultlines have been found in Ngata, RVIST, and Kiamunyi.
According to him, the increase in population and construction works have led to the pressure and other technical aspects leading to the same.
“Government is looking for solution in this matter but we call on residents to be cautious. Already KENHA and KERA, KURA are on the ground,” he stated.
Area MCA Bernard Gatuso who visited the scene revealed that members of the community have been raising concerns over the same.
According to him, there have been similar cases in the area.
Preliminary reports indicate that the growing population might have a hand in the pressure on the land.
The MCA who joined the County Commissioner in calling on residents to be cautious during the rainy season.
He urged the experts to work and sensitize the locals on the issue.
Ezra Ondara- a resident of London said they have been shocked by the formation of sinkhole just next to the road near Riva Petrol station.
He added that the region has continued to experience such due to the faultline from Menengai Crater.
Wilfred Momanyi- a resident said the incident has revealed the need to have area re-looked at to avert disasters.
According to him, there is need for the County Government and National to work closely in addressing the same through public participation and sensitization.
He called on residents to remain cautious, as this is not the first time such is happening.
