
The 11th Edition of the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) 2024 games concluded today at the Mumias Complex Sports Stadium, with West Pokot emerging as the football champions of the tournament.
Nakuru County delivered an impressive performance, securing five trophies across various categories.The county was crowned number one in the Choir Set Piece category and Darts, ranked second in Volleyball and placed third in both the Men’s and Women’s Tug of War competitions.
The Nakuru County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services Josephine Atieno, praised the teams’ achievements.She commended the management team, led by Acting Director for Sports Josephat Kimemia, for ensuring Nakuru excelled and consistently scored high throughout the competition.
Nakuru was recognized as the most improved county this year, with all its disciplines finishing in the top five.
Host Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa expressed gratitude to county officials for facilitating their teams’ participation in this year’s events held in Kakamega County, noting the economic boost it brought to the region.
The Chair of Sports, Youth, Gender, Social Services and Inclusivity Simon Kachapin, who is also the Governor of West Pokot, congratulated all teams that excelled in the tournament, particularly his county, for securing the football championship.
This year’s KICOSCA games were a testament to the power of sports and culture in fostering unity and excellence across the counties.
Present were Governors, Deputy Governors, KICOSCA management led by Secretary General Mr. Kang’ea, CECMs, Chief Officers, Directors and other dignitaries.
