Nakuru-based MC Joseph launches a book on his struggle with alcoholism

Members of the Nakuru MCs Association on Saturday November 9, 2024 joined their colleague Joseph Karanja as he launched a book ‘SHAKES OF MY PAST’.The book is a tale of Karanja and how he struggled with alcoholism.

Karanja who is now a former addict has transformed and boasts of 9 years of soberness.

It is a story of second and third chances.

“For a long time in my adult life I had struggled with alcoholism and other addictions. I survived TB 4 times. Death was often closer than the next day,” he states.

He narrates that it was tough for him and the family as well and that hope died many times, but God kept it alive.

He says the book is a testimony that change is real and that no condition is permanent.

“I’m now transformed and strong in faith of Salvation,” says Karanja.

Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki has commended MC Joseph Karanja for launching the book that will go a long way in addressing drugs and substance addiction.

She vowed to support such initiatives that aim to ensure young people are safe from drugs.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Joseph on the launch of his remarkable book, which chronicles his journey to sobriety. Your story is a beacon of hope, not only to those battling addiction but also to countless youth in Bahati Constituency. You have shown that with focus, determination, and the right mindset, it is possible to turn a new leaf and reclaim your life. As your Member of Parliament, I am determined to champion and support initiatives in Bahati aimed at tackling alcoholism and drug abuse among our beloved youth. Together, we can build a community where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential,” stated Njoki.
