Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki has called for a need to tackle alcoholism and drug abuse among youth in society.
The Lawmaker has expressed her commitment towards the same.
In a statement to Newsrooms over the weekend, MP Njoki stated that youth are critical component of society and that anything that comes between them and success should be addressed collectively.
This, even as the MP extended congratulations to Bahati-born MC Joseph Karanja who on Saturday launched a book dubbed ‘Shakes of my past’ that talks of how he managed to quit alcohol and drugs.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Joseph on the launch of his remarkable book, which chronicles his journey to sobriety. Your story is a beacon of hope, not only to those battling addiction but also to countless youth in Bahati Constituency,” stated Njoki.
According to the first term serving MP in Parliament, MC Karanja has shown that with focus, determination, and the right mindset, it is possible to turn a new leaf and reclaim your life.
She added that Karanja’s courage and resilience inspire all.
“I am particularly moved by the hope your story gives to our youth, proving that no situation is beyond redemption. As your Member of Parliament, I am determined to champion and support initiatives in Bahati aimed at tackling alcoholism and drug abuse among our beloved youth. Together, we can build a community where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential,” stated MP Njoki.
