A high-level security meeting was held in Kivumbini Ward on Thursday September 24, 2026 to address emerging issues in the newly created Lakeview Division within Nakuru East Subcounty.
The meeting convened by County Security team led by County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara was held in Greenview Estate(formerly Manyani) with top on the agenda being how to address emerging security challenges.
It is a meeting that brought together members of Nyumba Kumi and Village elders from the various estates within the Lakeview Division that has Langalanga and Kivumbini Sub Locations housing Flamingo, Kimathi, Lakeview Kivumbini, Machanga, and Greenview estates.
The meeting coming barely days after Police officers based at Bondeni Police station arrested three notorious gang members who were armed with machetes in Manyani.
Speaking during the meeting, Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara urged residents to work closely with security agencies in wiping out criminals and ensuring safety in society.
The CC who took more than 2 hours listening to the issues raised by locals and responding to them, was categorical that security matters cannot be left to the police alone, but it is a collective responsibility.
He urged residents to volunteer information that might help the security agencies in restoring sanity within the society.
“We all have a responsibility to ensure secure society,” he stated.
While recalling the recent fire incidents at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil Constituency and the unrest at Kenyatta Boys High School in Bahati Constituency, Kibaara urged parents to be responsible and play their role in shaping their children.
According to him, young people in society need proper parenting to avert such.
“As parents, let us play our part. We need to up our parenting role and help shape these youth,” he stated.
And as the country prepares for general elections, Kibaara assured that Nakuru County will remain peaceful moving forward.
On the issue of drugs and substance abuse and illicit brew consumption among young people, the County Commissioner called for collective responsibility.
He added that wiping out such is a war that cannot be won by security agencies alone without support of the community.
“You are the people who know where illicit brew and drugs dens are. Kindly volunteer information and the security team shall act,” states Kibaara.
Sentiments echoed by Nakuru County Administration Police Commander Samuel Murithi.
He reiterated that security in society begins with individuals and community members have a key role to play.
“Usalama unaanza na wewe mwenyewe(Security starts with you). We all have a responsibility in matters security,” he said.
Nakuru East Subcounty Police Commander Isaac Kimwele and Officer Commanding Bondeni Police station Boniface Mutie on their part warned that security team in Nakuru East will not relent in combating crime.
The tough-talking Kimwele sounded a stern warning to individuals including parents collaborating with criminals that their days are numbered.
“We will not relent in combating crime in Nakuru Town East. We call for your cooperation and ensure a safer society,” stated Kimwele.
During the meeting, security measures and mechanisms were developed towards enhancing security within Kivumbini, Manyani, Kimathi, Lakeview, Flamingo and Machanga estates.
The local Chiefs were also tasked to work closely with members of the community, and police officers in enhancing security.
