MP Njoki lauds Government’s move on reforms in the coffee sector

Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki has lauded Government’s effort in restoring coffee sector in the country.

Speaking on Tuesday January 16, 2024 when she hosted Cooperatives and SMEs Development Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui at Bahati Stadium,  the MP noted that coffee sector is key in the economy transformation agenda.

She added that reforms such as better payment for coffee farmers, was vital in the sector.

“I was delighted today to host, Cooperatives and SMEs Development, Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Simon Chelugui at Bahati Stadium during a coffee stakeholders forum on the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund,” stated Njoki.

According to the lawmaker, the game changing Coffee Cherry Fund was key.

“We are focused on achieving the game-changing Coffee Cherry Fund – boosting payments from Ksh.20 to Ksh.80 per Kg, which is a vital step in President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s reforms in the coffee sector,” she said.

The first term serving MP in Parliament reiterated her support for Government’s effort in enhanced farmers’ welfare.

According to her, this will bring an end to the exploitation of farmers.

“I fully support the government’s efforts in putting money in our farmers’ pockets, curbing exploitation, and fostering sustainable agriculture,” she said.
