Njoro MP Charity Kathambi on Tuesday May 6, 2025 led constituents in a public participation forum on Constitutional Amendment Bill No 4 of 2025 on entrenching NG-CDF, NGAAF and Senate Oversight Fund into Constitution.

During the forum, locals shared heartfelt testimonies on how the funds have transformed their community.

Residents expressed overwhelming support for the bill, citing visible improvements in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.

Addressing the meeting, Kathambi hailed the development funds as “game changer” for local communities.

“We should defend these funds and ensure they are protected in our Constitution to guarantee continuity of the funds and development for our people,” she urged.

The MP painted a vivid picture of the tangible impact of the funds such as the construction of new school buildings, improved access to health services through new facilities in remote areas, and the empowerment of women and vulnerable groups through affirmative action initiatives.

Additionally, residents acknowledged the state of improved security following the construction of chiefs’ camps and police posts, as well as better transport access through the rehabilitation of long-neglected roads.

This public participation process forms part of the national efforts to collect citizen views on the proposed constitutional changes, which aim to secure the future of key development initiatives at the grassroots level through the implementation of the funds.

Local leaders and residents echoed the importance of constitutional protection for these funds, emphasizing that anchoring them in law would not only safeguard their continuity but also ensure equitable development across all regions of the country.
