
Bahati MP Irene Njoki has called on parents to have an open talk with their children.
The Lawmaker noted that the current generation does not need commands and harsh talk.
While reiterating her commitment towards education for all, MP Njoki was categorical that parents should also reciprocate by ensuring they are having open, honest talks with their children.
She added that communication is key in addressing the issues affecting the current generation among them drugs and substance abuse, sexual immorality.
“As we invest in education, I urge parents to have open, honest talks with their children. Gen Z and Gen Alpha need communication, not commands, in the fight against drug abuse and sexual immorality. Let’s guide them with understanding, not authority,” she stated.
MP Njoki was speaking in Dundori Ward, when she delivered a bursary cheque to Bavuni Secondary School.
The first time serving Lawmaker reiterated her commitment to education.
During the event, she revealed that construction of a modern hall at the school is scheduled for the next financial year to support academic and community activities.
According to the Lawmaker, Bursaries for universities, boarding schools, and tertiary institutions will follow shortly.
