When the history of Nakuru Town West Constituency shall be written, the name of one Samwel Arama will not be left out.
He is the current Member of Parliament for the cosmopolitan Constituency.
Arama served as the first MP for the Constituency that was birthed from the larger Nakuru Town Constituency bringing about Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West.
This was just before the 2013 general elections.
The MP emerged winner on ODM ticket, a seat that he successfully defended in 2017 and 2022.
The consecutive three general elections, have proven that Arama is a man of the people.
Political pundits argue that the MP is now becoming a political guru in Nakuru.
It should be noted that it is not rare for a politician to successfully contest a seat on consecutive terms.
However, Arama believes in leadership that is people-centred that helps understand their problems and find solutions.
According to him, this is what has seen him be re-elected for three consecutive terms.
“Leadership is all about service to the people,” he said.
Since he took over as MP, Nakuru West Constituency has seen tremendous development from infrastructure such as roads and drainage system, schools and even national government institutions among them police stations.
A lobby done that saw World bank build some tarmack roads in the Constituency has build a name for the Lawmaker who constituents always refer to as ‘Supper MP’.
On matters bursary, the MP as a patron has been ensuring transparency with several needy also being supported through his Personal foundation.
He says he underwent a lot of suffering during his time in school, hence no learner in his Constituency should undergo the same
Arama who has declared that he will defend his seat for the forth term, says his development record is clear and that is the scorecard that he will be campaign with in 2027.
The Lawmaker besides development agenda for constituents, he has been vocal to defend the interest of his constituents.
He has on many occasions questioned government whenever his constituents are harassed by some individuals.
Arama recently took up an issue with Ministry of interior calling on CS Kipchumba Murkomen to solve the conflict between fishermen and Lake Nakuru National Park officers in Rhonda and Mwariki.
The Legislator has also perfected the art of working with government of the day.
“No matter our political differences, once elected we need to put such aside and work towards service delivery to the people,” he says.
This has seen him bargain for development projects for his constituents from any national government that comes in place.
Together with his Bahati counterpart Irene Njoki, they are the only Lawmakers in Nakuru County who were elected on Jubilee party ticket, as the other 9 were elected on UDA ticket.
