Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama on Friday August 1, 2025 hosted the National Assembly Committee on Lands.
The committee conducted a fact-finding visit to Nakuru Town West Constituency over a long-standing land dispute for Jua Kali Sector members.
The visit was led by Committee Chair, Joash Nyamoko.
Senior officials from the County Government of Nakuru including Deputy Governor David Kones and County Secretary Dr. Samuel Mwaura were also in attendance.
The meeting saw a candid engagement with representatives from the Jua Kali sector.
According to the Jua Kali Sector members, the disputed parcel rightfully belongs to them.
They raised serious concerns about alleged land grabbing and the unlawful possession of the title deed by well-known individuals.
The Parliamentary committee noted that fraudulent land transactions continue to undermine the rights of genuine landowners and erode public trust in our land administration systems.
In this regard, the committee reaffirmed commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that those involved in illegal land dealings are brought to justice.
“We must protect the rights of all Kenyans and restore integrity to our land management processes,” stated the chair.
MP Arama commended the committee for visiting the land.
He expressed optimism that the report of the Committee shall help in addressing the challenges around the land.
In a significant development, Arama revealed that the County Government has pledged to construct a modern Jua Kali facility, a move that will not only provide a dignified working environment but also enhance job creation within the sector.
“We remain hopeful for a resolution that safeguards the livelihoods of our hardworking artisans,” stated Arama.
