President William Ruto’s recent order directing Police to shoot in the legs any protestor destroying property has continued to receive criticism.
Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama has weighed in on the matter terming it an order that should not have been issued.
According to Arama, there are mechanisms in the country on matters justice which should be followed.
Arama has differed with President Ruto on the same.
President William Ruto ordered police to shoot protesters targeting businesses in the legs, ensuring they are incapacitated but not killed.
However according to Arama, those found destroying property during protests should just be arrested taken to police and arraigned in court rather than shooting them and incapacitating them.
“I don’t support the order given to police to shoot in the legs protestors found destroying property. I am of the view that they should be arrested and taken to court and due process followed,” he said.
The Lawmaker was speaking on Sunday morning when he received several youths who paid him a courtesy call to thank him for standing with them.
Arama also used the moment to urge for unity in Nakuru Town West Constituency, adding that politics of tribalism have no room in the Constituency.
He reminded electorates to always look and vet leaders depending on their development record before making decisions at the ballot.
