Ministry of Interior to issue comprehensive statement on Brian’s disappearance

Ministry of Interior and National Administration will soon issue a comprehensive statement in the case of Brian Odhiambo who disappeared in the hands of Kenya Wildlife Service officers at Lake Nakuru National Park.

Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed the same.

The CS who spoke in Nakuru on Wednesday March 19, 2025 during the launch of National Mobile ID registration outreach program said the Government empathizes with the family of Brian and that investigations are on to unravel the truth sorounding Brian’s disappearance.

According to the CS investigations are on and once completed, the Ministry shall issue a statement on the same.

He added that the KWS officers who will be found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted.

The tough talking CS was categorical that if Brian had done wrong he would have been arrested and taken to court.

“On the issue of Brian Odhiambo, we empathize with the family. I want to state here that the investigations once completed as a Ministry we shall issue a statement on the same. We want to see justice served to the family and officers who will be found culpable prosecuted,” stated Murkomen.

He at the same time sounded stern warning to KWS officers who have been engaging in illegal fishing that is now causing wrangles between community and KWS.

The CS was responding to concerns raised by MPs Samuel Arama(Nakuru West) and David Gikaria(Nakuru Town East).

The duo were addressing during the meeting at Shabab Social Hall grounds, called on CS to intervene in the ongoing wrangles between community around Lake Nakuru National Park and Kenya Wildlife Service over the fishing in Lake Nakuru National Park.

At one particular time, CS Murkomen was suspend his speech after Brian’s mother Elizabeth Auma made a courageous move towards the CS.

The security time tried to block her, but she had already made her way to the CS who instructed that she be given a seat, adding that he will address her concerns.

“Mwacheni akuje…nitashughulikia mambo yake(Let her come…I will address her concerns),” stated the CS.

Brian Odhiambo disappeared on January 18, 2025 under circumstances that security officers at Lake Nakuru National Park have failed to explain.

This, even as his family maintains that he was among those arrested by KWS officers that particular day, yet no records of his detention exists.
