Kivumbini Ward’s Oldest Estate ‘Paul Machanga’ to get new sewer line

When the name ‘Paul Machanga estate’ is mentioned, many Nakurians relate it with football matters especially in the Inter-estates.

The estate which is one of the estates that make Kivumbini Ward, will undergo new sewer line construction replacing the old Sewer line that has been there for decades hence worn out.

The site was handed over to to the contractor on June 6, 2024.

The project is being implemented by county government of Nakuru under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika and oversight role of area MCA Neto Sakwa.

According to MCA Sakwa, it will see the old 4-inch sewer line replaced with new 8-inch.

“This is being implemented under the Ward Development kitty as proposed in the last financial year,” he stated.

Sentiments echoed by Governor Susan Kihika Mashinani Representative Amadi Kahero.

If you are a resident in Kivumbini Ward or even a visitor, you will spot the houses in the estate that used to be managed by the defunct municipal council and sits between the Nakuru’s affordable Housing project, Githurai estate, and Kivumbini Secondary.

A walk into the estate you will spot several extensions made to the houses with locals stating that this was allowed by previous regimes to enable larger families fit in the houses.

The estate has 60 blocks with over 200 county houses.

In an earlier interview with a senior resident Mohammed Ali,  revealed that the estate was named after a famous scout and a member of the Salvation Army Mr.Paul Machanga who lived in the early 60s in Nakuru.

He was a philanthropist who used to assist the vulnerable in society.

History has it that Paul Machanga died when the foundation of the estate was being laid hence the name.

The roads around the estate are yet to be re-tamarcked as they were done during the colonial times, However one Kalewa Road is in the process in what locals say is due to the coming up of affordable housing project.
