Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika on Wednesday October 21, 2026 boosted the economic independence for 17 groups in Kihingo Ward, Njoro Constituency.
This took place during an empowerment meeting at Davishon Dam in Kihingo Ward.
The empowerment will go a long way in supporting women and youth groups in improving household incomes and growing businesses.
Speaking during the event, Kihika encouraged the 15 groups that received 100 seater tents and two groups that received seats to utilise the equipment effectively and manage their business ventures prudently.
While expressing that she was impressed by the beneficiaries’ plans, Kihika reaffirmed her commitment to supporting their business growth.
According to Kihika, the establishment of the Sh100 million low-interest Wezesha Fund helps facilitate access to affordable credit.
She used the moment to also highlight development projects undertaken in Kihingo Ward to improve livelihoods.
Governor Kihika revealed that her administration has restored and protected Davishon Dam, installed solar power at four water projects, constructed maternity wings at Mutarakwa and Kihingo health facilities, and graded Majuu, Wamondo, Kwa Muhuri and Njuguini Roads.
Meanwhile, the new Njoro Level 4 Hospital will open before the end of December.
To support education, Governor Kihika issued bursary cheques to schools and VTCs worth Sh5,497,000 benefitting 1,260 students in Kihingo Ward.
“We have constructed four-door latrines at Wendani and Mutumburu ECDE centres. We are finalising the processing of title deeds for plot owners in Kihingo. A new contractor for Kihingo ESP market on site,” she said.
During the event, Kihika distributed maize seedlings to those present to boost their farming and production.
