IS GOVERNMENT IN PANIC OVER A MERE PLAY ‘Echoes of War’ by Butere Girls…?

A play that talks of the struggles of Gen-Z to hold government accountable….

The play by Butere Girls’ Students has gone through tribulations that started with a ban that would later be lifted by the court after an alumni of Butere Girls’ moved to court demanding that the play proceeds.

The PS for basic Education, Professor Julius Bitok, who was in Nakuru for the opening of the National Drama and Films Festivals competition at Lions Primary School, assured the public that the play would go on.

He admitted that the play had a few issues, but they were sorted out and that the play would go on.

The play was scheduled to be staged at Lions Primary School Hall on Thursday from 8.30 am.

However, reliable sources have it that the play might be performed as early as 6 am.

The sources further reveal that security has been beefed up around the venue, that audience will only access with special cards and that there will be restrictions even to members of the fourth estate.

It is still not clear whether it’s just security measures following the theme of the play by Butere Girls’ Students or there is a hidden agenda to see the play not sail through.

As it is history in drama and music festivals, items that make it at nationals always proceed to be performed at Statehouse Nairobi before the head of State.

This means if Butere Girls’ Students play ‘Echoes of War’ and win at the ongoing Nationals in Nakuru, then the Girls will perform before President William Ruto at Statehouse.

Meanwhile, former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala was, on Wednesday evening, blocked from accessing Butere Girls students in Nakuru.

Sources have it that this is in connection to the fact that he is the scriptwriter of the controversial play Echoes of War.

Malala was also arrested over the same.
