Health matters are at core of my heart, Governor Kihika assures residents

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has assured residents of Nakuru County that she will continue to prioritize health matters.

The Governor noted that a healthy society is key towards development, hence the docket shall be prioritized.

She made the remarks on Tuesday May 28, 2024 during a consultative meeting with all Medical Superintendents and facility in charges of all level 4 and 5 facilities.

The meeting saw deliberations on several challenges that interfere with service delivery.

“I provided feedback from citizens on areas of improvement in facility management and service delivery,” she stated.

Kihika vowed to continue listening to MedSupts’ opinions on resolving the challenge of the sub-optimal number of Human Resources for Health.

She noted that there has been a challenge of utilising the resources generated by hospitals to pay for human resources, both technical and support.

According to her, this practice has eaten into resources intended for Facility Improvement and payment of pending bills.

Under her administration, the county boss vowed to ensure capacity of equipment and maintenance of facilities to an acceptable level.

“The solutions suggested for these and many other challenges will assist me in making strategic decisions as we move into the Financial Year 2024-25,” she said.
