Government remains committed towards welfare of children

The National government is committed towards ensuring welfare of children.

This was the assurance by First Lady Rachael Ruto.

She was speaking in Nakuru’s Kaptembwa Primary on Thursday November 20, 2024 during this year’s World Children’s Day.

“Ensuring that every child in Kenya has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and dream free from the burden of hunger and malnutrition is a top priority,” she stated.

This even as Kenya aims to attain the Universal School Feeding target of 10 million meals daily by 2030.

According to the First Lady, currently, we are feeding 2.5 Million children daily.

She revealed that she has a broad ambition to support 2 million children out of the gap of 7.5 million children who are yet to enjoy a school meal daily.

“We want to see every child holding a nutritious plate of food in their hands daily. This is the power that every child needs to get an equal chance at life and change their future,” she stated.

This year’s World Children’s Day was marked under the theme “Listen to the future. Stand up for children’s rights”.
